1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Ranfft DB, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use the service.

Ranfft DB may update these terms from time to time. When material changes are made, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users through the website or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the service after changes become effective means you accept the updated terms.

2. Description of the Service

Ranfft DB is a community-maintained archive and reference database for watch movements, calibers, manufacturers, images, technical references, and related information.

The service may include public browsing, registered user accounts, supporter features, image galleries, advanced search, moderation tools, user submissions, and community features.

3. User Accounts

Some features require an account. Registration may be invitation-only unless you register through an approved supporter subscription.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it reasonably up to date.

User roles may include User, Supporter, Moderator, and Admin. Access to features may vary depending on your role.

Ranfft DB may suspend, restrict, or deactivate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, attempt to bypass restrictions, or create security, legal, or operational risk.

4. Anonymous Access

Ranfft DB may allow anonymous browsing through a shared anonymous access mechanism. Anonymous access is provided for convenience and may be limited, monitored, rate-limited, or disabled at any time.

Abuse of anonymous access, including scraping, automated bulk access, spam, or attempts to bypass access controls, is prohibited.

5. Supporter Subscriptions

Ranfft DB may offer paid supporter subscriptions. Supporter subscriptions help maintain the project and may grant additional access, including registration without an invitation code and other supporter-level features.

Payments are processed by third-party providers such as Stripe and/or PayPal. Ranfft DB does not store credit card numbers or bank account details.

Supporter subscriptions may renew automatically depending on the selected payment provider and plan. You may cancel your subscription through the applicable payment provider or account flow. Unless otherwise stated, supporter access remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where Ranfft DB determines, at its discretion, that a refund is appropriate.

6. Content and Contributions

Users may submit corrections, caliber data, images, descriptions, technical information, and other contributions.

You keep ownership of everything you contribute and remain free to use your own work however you like. By submitting content, you grant Ranfft DB a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, and sublicensable license to store, display, reproduce, modify, moderate, translate, distribute, and create derivative and aggregated works from that content, in order to operate, improve, promote, and sustain the project. Ranfft DB will not sell any single contributor's submission on its own as a standalone product.

The license is perpetual so that community-curated data stays intact even if you later close your account. You may still ask us to remove personal information or content you have a valid legal reason to take down, although copies already distributed or published may persist.

You must only submit content that you have the right to submit. Do not upload copyrighted images, proprietary data, personal information, or third-party material unless you have permission or another valid legal basis.

Submissions may be reviewed, edited, accepted, rejected, or removed by moderators or administrators.

7. Accuracy of Information

Ranfft DB is a community-maintained reference archive. Although the project aims to provide accurate and useful information, the database may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or incomplete records.

The service is provided for informational purposes only. You should independently verify information before relying on it for repairs, purchases, valuations, technical decisions, or any other material use.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• scrape, crawl, or extract data in bulk without permission;
• bypass rate limits, authentication, moderation, or access controls;
• abuse anonymous login or supporter features;
• impersonate another person or entity;
• submit false, misleading, unlawful, infringing, or malicious content;
• upload malware or attempt to compromise the service;
• spam the contact form or other communication channels;
• interfere with the availability, integrity, or security of the service.

Ranfft DB may enforce rate limits, block suspicious activity, and restrict access where necessary.

9. Intellectual Property

Ranfft DB, including its database structure, interface, original text, code, organization, and project-specific content, is owned by Ranfft DB or its respective rights holders.

User-contributed content remains owned by its original owner, subject to the license granted to Ranfft DB under these terms.

Manufacturer names, trademarks, logos, and product names belong to their respective owners. Their appearance in Ranfft DB is for identification and reference purposes only.

10. Third-Party Services

Ranfft DB may rely on third-party services for payments, analytics, bot protection, email delivery, infrastructure, or other operational needs. These providers may process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.

Relevant providers may include Stripe, PayPal, Google Tag Manager, Google reCAPTCHA, and Resend.

11. Termination

Ranfft DB may suspend, deactivate, or restrict your account if you violate these terms or if your activity creates legal, security, operational, or community risk.

Account deactivation may use a soft-delete mechanism. Some data may be retained where necessary for audit integrity, abuse prevention, legal compliance, payment dispute handling, or preservation of the public archive.

12. Disclaimers

Ranfft DB is provided "as is" and "as available." No warranty is made that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, or accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ranfft DB disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and accuracy.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ranfft DB and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, service interruption, or decisions made based on database content.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes will be handled in the courts of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
