ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse is the world's largest manufacturer of Swiss watch movements, headquartered in Grenchen, Canton Solothurn. Its origins lie in the movement-making branch of Eterna, itself founded in 1856; the ETA division joined the creation of Ébauches SA in 1926. Through successive mergers — absorbing A. Schild (1978) and eventually all Ébauches SA factories including Valjoux, Lemania, and Peseux (1985) — ETA became the overwhelmingly dominant supplier of Swiss ébauches. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swatch Group.

For collectors, ETA movements are relevant across the entire spectrum of the market. The 2824-2 and 2892-A2 are workhorses found in hundreds of brands from mid-range to prestige; the 7750 is the most widely used chronograph base movement in history; and the 6497/6498 pocket-watch-derived calibres are a popular base for exhibition-case dress watches. Restrictions on movement supply to third-party brands introduced from 2010 fundamentally reshaped the industry, forcing many brands to develop alternatives or in-house calibres.
