A. Lange & Söhne is a prestigious German watch manufacturer founded on 7 December 1845 by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in Glashütte, Saxony. Lange trained local apprentices and established Glashütte as a center of fine watchmaking, encouraging former employees to found supplier workshops around him — creating an integrated craft ecosystem that still defines the town. The firm was renamed A. Lange & Söhne in 1868 when Lange's elder son Richard joined.

The manufactory was largely destroyed in a Soviet air raid on the final day of World War II in May 1945, then nationalized under East German rule. After German reunification, Walter Lange — great-grandson of the founder — re-established Lange Uhren GmbH in December 1990. The reborn company debuted four iconic references in October 1994 including the asymmetric Lange 1 with its outsize date. A. Lange & Söhne is today part of the Richemont Group and is universally regarded as one of the world's finest watchmakers, prized for the characteristic three-quarter plate, hand-engraved balance cock, and Glashütte stripe finishing.
