Hamilton Watch Company used code HYL to import Swiss movements. Although Hamilton was primarily an American manufacturer (Lancaster, Pennsylvania), it acquired the Swiss Buren company and eventually closed its Lancaster factory in 1969, shifting all production to Buren's Swiss plant. Swiss-made Hamilton movements from the transition period bear the HYL stamp, documenting the brand's shift from American to Swiss manufacturing.
