| Description | Central Watch Co. shared this code with Benrus. Benrus was founded in 1921 in New York by Romanian-American Benjamin Lazrus and brothers ('Benrus' = 'Ben' + 'Rus'), assembling watches from Swiss movements sourced in La Chaux-de-Fonds. By the early 1950s Benrus exceeded one million watches per year and was America's third-largest watch company behind Bulova and Elgin, holding major US military contracts from WWII through Vietnam including the standard-issue DTU-2A/P field watch. The company filed for bankruptcy in 1977. |
