| Description | Cortébert Watch Co. (village of Cortébert, Canton Bern, founded 1790 by Abraham-Louis Juillard; brand registered 1855) supplied movements to Rolex and Panerai — notably Calibres 492/514/616 used in early Radiomir watches for the Italian Navy — and licensed the Pallweber jump-hour system later used by IWC. Also known for precision railroad movements supplied to Turkish and Italian rail systems; produced as 'Perseo' in Italy from 1927 by Mussolini's decree. Closed in the early 1970s quartz crisis. 'Cort' was the US trade name. |
