| Description | Henry Blank Co. (Newark, NJ, founded 1890 as N.E. Whiteside & Co.; renamed 1917) was a high-end jeweler and watch importer that in 1912 secured exclusive US rights to IWC movements (retained until c. 1950) and to C.H. Meylan movements from Le Brassus. Henry Blank sailed home from that buying trip aboard the Titanic and survived the sinking. The Cresarrow Watch Co. sub-brand (est. 1924) was the lower-priced line; Tiffany & Co. was the firm's largest retail account. The business closed in 1986 and its records are held by the New Jersey Historical Society. |
