| Description | Cyma (La Chaux-de-Fonds, founded 1862 by brothers Joseph and Theodore Schwob as Schwöb Frères; Cyma trademark registered 1903; operated in partnership with Tavannes Watch Co.) pioneered Switzerland's first waterproof wristwatch ('Submarine,' 1915) and the Cymaflex flexible-case system (1937). By 1938 the firm employed ~2,000 workers producing ~4,000 watches per day. During WWII Cyma supplied field watches to Allied forces and was part of the British military's 'Dirty Dozen' procurement programme. |
