| Description | Leonidas Watch Factory SA (Saint-Imier, founded 1841 by Julien Bourquin; acquired 1911 by Constant Jeanneret-Droz of the Excelsior Park watch family) was a major Swiss chronograph and stopwatch manufacturer supplying government agencies in the USA, Germany, Italy, and Britain. Jack Heuer acquired Leonidas in 1964 specifically for its dominant position in the American stopwatch market, forming Heuer-Leonidas SA; the combined firm became the world's fastest-growing timing instrument maker before TAG acquired it in 1985. |
