Omega Calibers

Omega SA is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Louis Brandt. In 1894 the firm introduced the celebrated 19-ligne Omega caliber — precise, robust, and easily serviceable — and officially adopted the name Omega Watch Co. in 1903, making it the first brand named after one of its own movements. By that point it was already the largest Swiss manufacturer of finished watches, and its movements had earned the highest observatory precision certificates.

In 1930 Omega merged with Tissot to form SSIH; after the Quartz Crisis, SSIH merged with ASUAG in 1983 to create the Swatch Group, within which Omega remains the flagship brand. Collectors prize Omega above all for the Speedmaster (worn on the Moon in 1969), the Seamaster diver series, the Constellation observatory-certified line, and the De Ville. In-house calibers 30T2, 321, 861, 1861, and the modern Co-Axial family anchor the brand's horological heritage. Omega has served as official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932.
