Longines Calibers
Longines is a Swiss watch manufacturer with uninterrupted production at the same site since 1867, when Ernest Francillon built the first factory on the meadow called Les Longines near Saint-Imier, canton of Bern. The commercial tradition traces to 1832 when Auguste Agassiz established a watchmaking comptoir d'établissage in Saint-Imier; Francillon — his nephew — centralized and industrialized that heritage into a true manufacture. The factory's first in-house movement, the 20A, won an award at the 1867 Paris Universal Exhibition.
Longines pioneered high-precision timekeeping for aviation and sport: its movements timed the 1896 Athens Olympics, and through the mid-20th century it dominated observatory chronometer competitions and official sports timing. The winged-hourglass logo has been in continuous use since Francillon's era. Longines joined ASUAG in the 1930s and has been part of the Swatch Group since 1983, remaining based in Saint-Imier. Its vast range of calibers — from the ultra-thin 30Z to high-complication pocket watch movements — makes it one of the most documented and collected Swiss brands.
