Liga Calibers
Liga (Manufacture de Montres Liga) was a Swiss watch manufacturer founded in Grenchen in 1887 by Jean-Baptiste Bourquard, relocating to Solothurn in 1895 and restructured in 1920 as Manufacture de Montres Liga SA. The company produced both anchor-escapement and Roskopf pin-lever watches, acquiring the Roskopf & Cie factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1914 to extend its pin-lever capacity.
Following Bourquard's death in 1924, Liga continued under Pierre Gunzinger. In 1949 it merged with the Herold watch factory of Solothurn to form Fabrique d'Horlogerie Liga. The combined entity was taken over by Ermano in 1971. Liga represents a mid-range Swiss manufacturer serving the popular-price market across several decades of Swiss watchmaking's most productive era.
