Lemania Calibers
Lemania is a Swiss movement manufacturer specializing in chronographs, founded in 1884 by Alfred Lugrin in L'Orient, canton of Vaud. Lugrin trained at Jaeger-LeCoultre and from the outset focused on chronographs, repeaters, and stopwatches. The firm was renamed Lemania Watch Co. by Lugrin's son-in-law Marius Meylan around 1930, and in 1932 joined the SSIH group alongside Omega and Tissot.
Lemania's most celebrated caliber, the 2310, is widely regarded as one of the finest chronograph movements ever produced and powered the Omega Speedmaster Professional worn by NASA astronauts on every crewed Apollo mission — an association that makes Lemania movements among the most historically significant calibers in collecting. The company separated from SSIH in 1981 as Nouvelle Lemania, was acquired by Groupe Horloger Breguet in 1992, and was absorbed into the Swatch Group / Manufacture Breguet after Breguet's 1999 acquisition.
