Lavina Calibers
Lavina is a Swiss watch movement manufacturer whose roots trace to a watchmaking counter established in Villeret in 1852 by Brack and Tripet. The Lavina trademark was registered in 1903, and from 1904 the firm produced its own ébauches as Fabrique Lavina. In 1916 the company was acquired by Victor Dubois and Edouard Dubois-Peseux, linking it to the high-precision Peseux movement tradition of the Vallée de Joux.
Lavina became noted for finely finished lever-escapement calibers — the 13-ligne caliber 105 earned bulletins from the Neuchâtel Observatory, and the 1957 automatic caliber 150A Vimatic demonstrated in-house innovation. The Lavina trademarks were transferred to Favre-Leuba in 1961, and the company was formally absorbed into the Favre-Leuba holding by 1973. Lavina calibers are sought by collectors of quality Swiss movements from independent manufacturers of the 1940s–60s.
