Import Code GXC Calibers
Gruen Watch Company used code GXC to import Swiss movements. Gruen maintained its own Swiss subsidiary and Precision Factory in Biel/Bienne (built 1922), which produced the higher-grade movements sold in the US under the 'Precision' designation. The company's model — Swiss movements adjusted and cased in Cincinnati, Ohio — made it one of the first US companies to systematically import and recase Swiss ebauches, a practice that continued until the company's decline in the 1950s.
