Import Code FXF Calibers

Fairfax Watch Co. and Gruen shared code FXF. Fairfax was registered to D. Gruen & Sons (originally by E.M. Rosenthal jewelry of Washington DC in 1935, later formalized as Fairfax Distributing Company). Fairfax operated as a wholesale broker: movements were pre-stamped 'Fairfax' in batches and warehoused; dials bearing other brand names could be fitted to the same movement, making Fairfax one of the period's more prolific private-label ebauche middlemen.
